is wordpress good for beginners
Understanding the Suitability of WordPress for Beginners
During my time working with WordPress I have often been asked by people if WordPress is good for beginners.
My honest answer, like with any new platform or software system it will always take time to learn, and depending on what system or platform you use there is different degrees of a learning curve.
Now personally I have used a few other platforms other than WordPress some in plain HTML and also the Magento. To say that these two platforms require a steep learning curve is somewhat of an understatement.
I have in my time also played around with shopify, shopify wasn’t bad, still not as good as WordPress, in my humble opinion but I am by us. The only thing we shopify is that because it’s very business orientated it can end up costing you more in terms of add-ons and things.
Is WordPress Easy to Learn
so to answer the question of whether or not WordPress is easy to learn is largely related to how tech savvy you are, how keen you are to learn and also how much time you have available to invest in learning this content management system [CMS].
like anything in life something can be difficult unless you know what you are doing. Even rocket science to somebody would have appeared difficult until they learned about it and no doubt eventually became second nature.
What I’m trying to say is if you can put the time in and you are open to learning something somewhat technical then yes WordPress can be easy to learn.
That doesn’t mean to say that there isn’t a learning curve. sure, the learning curve may not be as steep as some of the four mentioned platforms, but purely down to the sheer depth of WordPress even I myself after 15 years of using WordPress you I am still learning things each day, mainly down to new plugins that I tend to add.
How long does it take to learn WordPress
the best advice I can give to somebody who wants to know how long it takes to learn WordPress is to dedicate as much time as they can for at least the first few days.
Whatever software you are using the one thing that I have always noticed is that for the first hour when you look at a new software it can look intimidating are overwhelming. So that first hour give yourself that just to have a look around and literally play with the WordPress dashboard for stop.
then after an hour or two are even the following day start to click into each section of the dashboard, and what you will notice is that your brain will then start to familiarize yourself with the internal workings of WordPress I want your over that hurdle it is then just a case of learning each section.
Depending on how many hours per day you have I would give yourself 2 to 3 days to learn the basics or maybe 2 to 4 hours just familiarize yourself and start understanding the basic concepts of the internal workings of WordPress.
